A Basket of Mushrooms

Behind this mushroom-themed illustration is the best deal ever: My little brother brought me not only a inspiration photo from the forest, but also bags of mushrooms delivered straight to my door. That left me with just two jobs: Eating and drawing. Yes, please!

I do enjoy a walk in the woods, but I’m nowhere near a mushroom expert. I’ve only picked mushrooms a handful of times, and there has always been someone else to double-check that nothing suspicious ends up in the basket. Chanterelles are probably the only ones I can claim to recognize.

Well, fly agarics too. And to this day, my mom’s legendary advice still makes me laugh: “It’s important to know the poisonous ones. Only pick mushrooms you know.”
